Poker Stars
NOTE: Poker Stars is not currently accepting US playersPokerStars has a legitimate claim as perhaps the best purely poker-focused sites on the Internet. New players quickly see why this site has such a massive following when they experience the smooth, entertaining interface that can be customized any way you like it, complete with personalized avatars and 3D graphics. During the first few years of existence, PokerStars was known for having extremely stiff and tenacious competition. This has changed with the times, with the popularity of the site giving way to looser game play at the lower levels. However, this transition to a more mainstream poker site has not meant degradation in the quality of the PokerStars product. Payouts, for example, are fast and easy.

Ratings for Poker Stars
The common experience of players at PokerStars.com is best summed up in one word: custom. That is, no matter what level of player, what particular version of poker, or what computer you're playing on, the PokerStars interface has an uncanny way of seeming like it was made just for you. This is amazing if you think about just how massive this gaming network actually is. At peak hours there can be upwards of 22,500 ring game players and 155,000 tournament players. No matter, the poker software continues to run without a glitch as thousands of players upload their own avatars and get down to business.
As the home of poker pros like Daniel Negreanu, PokerStars has been riding the wave of poker popularity to dizzying heights. Known for holding the richest tournaments available on planet earth (literally), PokerStars attracts players far and wide. With a vast amount of players joining up constantly, the competition at PokerStars has loosened a bit in low level rooms, but is still stiff as starch at the high limit levels. Information security is terrific at all levels.
PokerStars offers customer service in only one way, and that is through email. That their staff is so fast and detailed in their responses somewhat makes up for the lack of communication options. With a player network so enormous (including more than a few gumps), we understand the need to keep everything time-efficient and in writing. We wouldn't recommend every site use only email support, but hey, if it works, it works, and in this case it does.
The bonus structure at PokerStars is not very impressive from our perspective, but does have its highlights. Sign up bonuses range from 50 to 100 percent of initial deposit, but they're frequently capped out at low limits like $50, which is quite measly. On the upside, titanic tournament pots offered at PokerStars are enticing indeed. For example, their Sunday Million Guaranteed Tournament does what it says it does: makes one million per week, on a Sunday no less.
With such a gargantuan gaming network, you might think PokerStars could afford to lag on their payout system. In fact, PokerStars is the complete opposite. The withdrawal process is fast as all get out. Deposit options include Visa, MasterCard, Neteller, Firepay, and eChecks.
